On April 25th, 2024 students from George Washington University, University of Maryland, Georgetown University, American University, and other schools in the DC/DMV area set up a Pro-Palestine encampment in University Yard of George Washington University. The encampment was part of a series of encampments at schools across the United States and lasted through the morning of May 8th, 2024 when 33 people were arrested.

During the encampment, through final exams, people and students participated in teach-ins, protesting, and more in support of relief in Gaza, demanding that the university divest from any zionist businesses the university is involved in.
